Principal's Profile

Capt. John M. George is a distinguished academician and former Vice Principal of St. Thomas College, Ranni, with a career spanning over 30 years in education and physical training. A graduate of Lakshmibai National College of Physical Education and a master’s degree holder from LNIPE, Gwalior, he is a NET-qualified professional with a strong commitment to education and has made significant contributions to St. Thomas College, Ranni.

As an accomplished athlete, Capt. John M. George represented Kerala University and Jiwaji University at the All-India Inter-University Handball and Basketball Championships during his student days. His passion for sports has been reflected in his roles as a resource person for PSC Kerala and as a technical official of the National Games 2015. His leadership extended to the academic field, where he was a key member of various boards and committees at MG University, including the Physical Education Board of Studies UG and PG, Executive Board Member, and Elected Member of the MG University Senate.

Capt. George has been a dedicated officer of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) since 2000, exemplifying exceptional leadership and commitment to the organization. His contributions were recognized with the prestigious Silver Medal from the Officer’s Training Academy in Kamptee, Nagpur. Notably, he served as the Contingent Commander of the Kerala NCC Team during the Republic Day Parade in Delhi in 2006, where he was honoured with the Best ANO Award by the Chief of Army Staff, a testament to his exemplary service and dedication.

He is also an active participant in national seminars and international workshops, particularly in areas like sports management, health education, and yoga. His community involvement is equally commendable, having served as Vice Chairman of the Pathanamthitta District Development Committee, Executive Member of the Sports Council in Pathanamthitta, and District Governor for Y’s Men International. His exemplary service has been acknowledged with the prestigious International Elmer Crowe Award.

Capt. John M. George’s unwavering commitment to academic and athletic excellence, coupled with extensive administrative experience, positions him as Principal of St. Thomas College, Konni, following his retirement in May 2023.
